I appreciated the opportunity to speak at the Economic Freedom of North America conference at the Bridwell Institute at SMU. There were fantastic discussions about how states can improve economic freedom and what benefits this brings to people, including prosperity.

The August jobs report showed only 142,000 new jobs, missing expectations of 160,000. Major revisions for June and July dropped previous totals by 86,000 jobs. The unemployment rate was 4.2%, and average weekly earnings increased by 3.7%, but real wages have declined since January 2021.
